Publish, archive, or return a course to draft
Publishing makes the selected learner-facing version available according to its access setting. Required readiness checks must pass before the course can be published.
Draft, Published, and Archived are separate lifecycle states. Archiving stops new enrollments while preserving existing learner access, progress, and certificate records.
Open Publishing settings
Open the course, select Course Settings, and choose Publishing.
Review Publish readiness
Confirm Title set, Content processed, and At least one module pass. Preview image is recommended but not required.
Choose the learner version
When Course version for learners is shown, select the ready version learners should receive.
Choose visibility
Under Visibility and access, set Discovery visibility to Public or Invite only.
Set the lifecycle status and save
Set Lifecycle status to Published and select Save. Use Draft to remove the course from normal learner enrollment, or Archived to close new enrollments while keeping existing learner records.
Lifecycle effects
Draft courses are not available for normal learner enrollment. Published courses follow their Public or Invite only access setting.
Archived courses are hidden from discovery and closed to new enrollments, but active learners keep access and existing progress and certificates are preserved.
